Did you know that many of the weeds growing right at your back door are actually edible, medicinal, or both?
Join naturopath and weed enthusiast Kirsten for a relaxed 1-hour foraging session at Fernlea Community House in Emerald, where we’ll venture out into the garden and surrounding area to identify common weeds that are edible, nutritious and medicinal.
Suitable for complete beginners and those wanting to deepen their herbal knowledge, this hands-on session will teach you how to identify, ethically forage, and prepare a handful of easy to find plants.
You’ll go home with a basketful of new wisdom like:
The tastiest weeds to add nutrition to your salads and soups.
Which weeds can be used for first aid for minor injuries and ailments
How to tell the difference between safe-to-eat weeds and their poisonous lookalikes.
Plus, I also hope you’ll discover the joy of finding a dandelion growing in an unexpected place, or a lovely lush patch of chickweed in between your veggies.
We’ll end the morning with a cuppa and shared morning tea, so bring a small plate to share if you’re able.
